Do you want to create a YouTube shortcode with oEmbed-based shortcodes? While there’s probably a plugin for this, we have created a quick code snippet that you can use to create oEmbed-based shortcodes in WordPress.
Instructions:
All you have to do is add this code to your theme’s functions.php file or in a site-specific plugin:
add_shortcode( 'youtube', 'my_youtube_shortcode' ); function my_youtube_shortcode( $atts ) { global $wp_embed; if ( empty($atts['id']) ) return ''; // Construct the YouTube URL $url = 'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=' . $atts['id']; return $wp_embed->shortcode( $atts, $url ); }
This is the shortcode to display YouTube videos in WordPress. Simply replace the ID with your YouTube video ID.
[youtube id="000000"]
Note: If this is your first time adding code snippets in WordPress, then please refer to our guide on how to properly add code snippets in WordPress, so you don’t accidentally break your site.
