Disable Sidebar Widgets on Specific Posts

Snippets by IsItWP

Do you want to disable widgets from specific posts in WordPress? While there’s probably a plugin for this, we have created a quick code snippet that you can use to disable sidebar widgets on specific posts using post ID.

Instructions:

All you have to do is add this code to your theme’s functions.php file or in a site-specific plugin:

add_filter( 'sidebars_widgets', 'disable_sidebar_widgets' );
function disable_sidebar_widgets( $sidebars_widgets ) {
	if (is_single(array(1,2,4,8)))
		$sidebars_widgets = array( false );
	        return $sidebars_widgets;
}

Note: If this is your first time adding code snippets in WordPress, then please refer to our guide on how to properly copy / paste code snippets in WordPress, so you don’t accidentally break your site.

  1. Thanks. This is the fourth or fifth thing I’ve tried and the only one that’s worked.

  2. This disables the whole sidebar on a specific post?

    1. This does not disable the side bar but stops all widgets from loading. The sidebar html code will still be displayed.
