Are you looking for a way to add the ability to filter your site’s searches by users? While there’s probably a plugin for this, we have created a quick code snippet that you can use to filter search by user in WordPress.
Instructions:
All you have to do is add this code to your theme’s functions.php file or in a site-specific plugin:
function mqw_filter_search($query) { if ($query->is_search) { //If user has rol "user-rol" can only search in custom-post-type and portfolio if ( current_user_can( 'user-rol' ) ) { $query->set('post_type', array('custom-post-type','portfolio')); } else { //Else all others users can search in the following post types $query->set('post_type', array('posts','custom-post-type','portfolio','pages')); } }; return $query; }; add_filter('pre_get_posts', 'mqw_filter_search');
Note: If this is your first time adding code snippets in WordPress, then please refer to our guide on how to properly add code snippets in WordPress, so you don’t accidentally break your site.
