Are you looking for a way to get parent featured image in children subpage? While there’s probably a plugin for this, we have created a quick code snippet that you can use to get parent featured image in children subpage in WordPress.
Instructions:
All you have to do is add this code to your theme’s functions.php file or in a site-specific plugin:
function get_parent_post_thumb($post){ if ( $post->post_parent ) { $parentId = end($post->ancestors); the_post_thumbnail($parentId); } else { the_post_thumbnail($post->ID); } }
Note: If this is your first time adding code snippets in WordPress, then please refer to our guide on how to properly add code snippets in WordPress, so you don’t accidentally break your site.

Does this function still work in WP 5.5? It does not seem to.
Does it require additional coding in a page template to pull the image?
I’m hoping to use this with the Divi page builder’s dynamic content feature that can see the page’s Feature Image and display it.
Thanks.
You may want to check that the image Divi is using is indeed the featured image and not its own type of image.
Also, be sure the function is run inside of the loop.
