Are you looking for a way to display the number of retweets for your blog post? While there’s probably a plugin for this, we have created a quick code snippet that you can use to get total post retweets in WordPress.
Instructions:
All you have to do is add this code to your theme’s functions.php file or in a site-specific plugin:
function tweetCount($url) { $content = file_get_contents("http://api.tweetmeme.com/url_info?url=".$url); $element = new SimpleXmlElement($content); $retweets = $element->story->url_count; if($retweets){ echo $retweets; }else{ echo '0'; } }
Add this code snippet to your theme’s single.php file to display the retweets count for your blog post.
<?php tweetCount( get_permalink($post->post_id) ); ?>
Note: If this is your first time adding code snippets in WordPress, then please refer to our guide on how to properly add code snippets in WordPress, so you don’t accidentally break your site.
