Are you looking for a way to increase the default number of fields in the custom fields dropdown? While there’s probably a plugin for this, we have created a quick code snippet that you can use to increase the default number of fields in the custom fields dropdown from the default of 30 to 60.
Instructions:
All you have to do is add this code to your theme’s functions.php file or in a site-specific plugin:
Keep in mind the same dropdown is displayed for each custom field metabox you have, so you may want to set the limit to a reasonable number if you decide to change line 3.
add_filter( 'postmeta_form_limit' , 'set_customfield_limit' ); function set_customfield_limit( $limit ) { $limit = 60; return $limit; }
Note: If this is your first time adding code snippets in WordPress, then please refer to our guide on how to properly copy / paste code snippets in WordPress, so you don’t accidentally break your site.
